Incubators Network Emilia-Romagna

Despite the Covid-19 emergency, the activities of the Network carried out in 2020 took place regularly, even if they had to be adapted to the current restrictions.
The network has expanded and welcomed 9 new incubators: Logisana, Stars & Cows, G-Factor, Agrifood BIC Granarolo, Tim WCAP Bologna, Le Village Parma, Junto, E-Hub and Spazio Nilde. To date, the network is composed by 27 members.
The Board met on a monthly basis to adapt the annual program to the new working conditions and to prepare the tools necessary to carry out the activities virtually. Three plenary meetings were held to foster mutual knowledge and networking, share the plan of activities and collect inputs for the new regional policy program dedicated to startup support.

The IN-ER network was officially presented during R2B - Research to Business 2019 by Andrea D’Amico and Sara Monesi. The objective of IN-ER - to promote the regional ecosystem abroad for the creation of innovative businesses and collaboration with international interlocutors - was shared with the Emilia-Romagna Region which accompanied the network in its establishment phase. The network is made up of incubators active since 2001 and can count on particularly interesting strengths: a total area of ??13,240 sqm, of which 950 sqm dedicated to research laboratories; the startups followed to date are around 500, of which 156 in 2018, with incubation / acceleration times ranging from 6 months to 3 years. Services range from hosting and assistance to growth, to support for financing opportunities, access to the regional Mentor network, which offers startups an important added value for business development.

Through the INER network website, some startups have had the opportunity to contact and in some cases establish collaborations with regional incubators.

Study visits

It was necessary to re-think the study visits to carry out them in a virtual mode: IN-ER had the opportunity to deepen its knowledge of iMec (Belgium), one of the European excellences for technology transfer, District3 (Montreal) and the University of Toronto Incubator.

Represented by ART-ER, the Network was involved in the monitoring board of Italian incubators coordinated by the Polytechnic of Torino, strengthening relations with virtuous ecosystems and with the Italia Startup network. IN-ER was also presented in international contexts, in particular to UBI Global and SERN (Startup Europe Network) networks. The INER Network also participated in R2B 2020 (R2B on Air) with 10 videos and in the annual meeting of the regional Mentorboard.

Other projects

Among the other activities carried out, webinars, the dissemination of calls and opportunities, the involvement of INER in social entrepreneurship and impact assessment projects (through participation in initiatives of the European Impact Agencies Project), and the involvement in the realization of training pills on entrepreneurship and innovation of the Phoenyx Factory association for the benefit of students of the University of Ferrara.
